Ash Tree Nicket (Sm-Med)

8.25

Ash is a very sacred tree in Irish tradition, as well as other Celtic and Norse cultures. It is known as Nuin (or Nin) in the Irish ogam, which means ‘letters’ in Celtic languages. It was seen as the feminine counterpart to the all-father tree, Oak. In norse mythology, it is known as Yggdrasil, which Odin hung himself from in order to gain the Runes in a vision. Ash typically grows up to 150 feet and has an immense root structure, which is no doubt reason for it to be considered the “world tree” in these ancient cultures.

Witches also have a sacred connection to Ash, as it was said in some traditions that witches lived inside of the trees. Witches brooms (or besoms) were also traditionally made from Ash. It was said to protect people from drowning and has many associations with water.

Each nicket is hand harvested from nature and cut to approximate sizing. One order is equal to one nicket bundle. Note: A nicket, much like a faggot, is a form of measurement in stick bundles. Our nickets measure 6”-10” in length and around 8” in circumference. These vary on the natural shape of the sticks, as they are wild harvested, natural in personality and completely untreated.
